Practical, light and easy to use! Solves dog, cat and young children’s “containment.”
These gates are sturdy, but, not as super heavy duty as the bamboo ones of other brand. I have both kinds. These are perfectly adequate for my needs.I really love the dark brown color. They are very practical, relatively inexpensive, lightweight, versatile, and fairly easy to use-once you know the secret trick! To size the gates to the opening, means you have to stretch out the gate to find the correct notch so the gate will hold firmly with enough tension so the pressure keeps the gate on firmly across the doorway.Mark the correct notch with a marker, so it’s easy to know where the metal bar goes into the groove. It’s a little tricky to adjust at first, but be patient. It will work fine! The adjustable bar will be on top of the bottom one. You’ll need to push down on the top bar until it meets the lower bar. If it’s so loose, or too tight, move one notch either way to get proper pressure. The last step-slide the black plastic clip over to the middle, so it slides over the end of the top bar. It will slip over the end, as it slips inbetween and over the end, separating the two bars slightly. It only slips over the last inch of the bar- until you see the wood of the bar’s end. And, “wa-la,” as they say in French! 😉😆I saw that there was a high return rate with these gates. I had trouble at first, until I realized that the plastic slider has to slip over the end while also, SEPARATING the two bars!I’ve been using these gates for decades-with toddlers, young children, then grandchildren, now about a dozen cat fur-babies, a big boxer and sausage-shaped chihuahua.I use the gate to keep the dogs away from cat food & litter boxes. The cats can slide under, or jump over the gate. That dang chihuahua decided to be brave enough only to get to the catfood! She must be doing the mambo! 😆One last point-the tall gate is wonderful for wide openings. One of our cats refuses to get along with the others. I needed a solution to keep her in her own room. I combined two small & one tall gate that keeps her in “her” own room!

This Evenflo baby gate is excellent! Easy to install with the pressure-mounted design, fits perfectly, and looks stylish with the farmhouse finish. Decent Budget Option, But Lacking in Quality
I purchased the Evenflo Position & Lock Baby Gate with hopes of finding a simple, budget-friendly solution to secure my home for a puppy. While the gate does the job, there are several drawbacks that make it far from ideal.Pros:Affordable: This is one of the most budget-friendly gates available, which might appeal to those looking for a temporary solution.Aesthetic Design: The farmhouse-style finish adds a touch of charm and blends well with rustic or neutral home decor.Pressure-Mounted: It’s easy to install without the need for tools or drilling into walls.Cons:Flimsy Build: The materials feel cheap, and the gate doesn’t provide the robust security I was expecting. It feels like it could be easily dislodged with minimal pressure.Lacks Durability: After a few uses, the locking mechanism seems to loosen, making me question its long-term reliability. Not Ideal for Active Kids or Pets: If you have a determined toddler or an energetic pet, this gate might not hold up.While this gate might work for light-duty use or as a temporary solution, it’s not a product I would recommend for households needing reliable, heavy-duty protection. If safety and durability are top priorities, I would suggest investing in a more solidly built option.

    Cheaply made, hard to use
Hard to take down/put back up. Not a smooth transition and takes a lot of wiggling and maneuvering. Once it’s up it’s fairly sturdy but not one that is easy to take down/put back up repeatedly.

Working to separate dog and cat from new cat
The locking mechanism can be tough to fit over the two bars once they’re in place. I still don’t have the hang of it, & I’ve had it a year! But since it’s tough to get over the two bars, it also never comes off, so there’s no chance it will come apart in the doorway where I have it.It’s been a year+ and my 80 lb dog still hasn’t figured out he could probably knock it over if he threw himself at it, & although the new cat has figured out how to scale it, it’s still held up to him repeatedly climbing it & vaulting over it.One wood bar on the side broke, but that was only because I accidentally stepped on it… I don’t think it would’ve broken if I hadn’t stepped on it.So far it’s served its purpose well (even while broken) by first keeping the dog separate last year, then by keeping the new cat separate, since this past mid-July. Turned out better than I expected.

    Sturdy and easy to use
With the way the box arrived I half way expected it to be broken. It must be a very sturdy item as it was intact. I really like this item because it doesn’t extend past where the side comes in contact with the door frame like my previous one. So the trim on my doorframe won’t get rubbed off or damaged now. I love the color and the style of this baby gate and it’s just the right height my dog can still get over it and my toddler can’t. I would buy this product again if I need another one as it came assembled and you don’t need to make any holes in the walls to install it.

    Grips well
    Good grips. Easy to operate

  8. Amazon Customer

    Not sturdy
Its an alright fence and isnt super difficult to use but despite how tightly you put it in place it can easily be knocked down by a motivated child who wants to get in or a pet who thinks they jumped high enough to get over it and were wrong. Unfortunately since it is knocked down easily by babies it didnt do the job and also damaged the door frame I had it in.

It’s the summer in Canada and it gets really hot. We open the doors and windows to get some breeze, but my daughter keep pushing through the mesh. So we decided to buy this and my husband installed it. It works fine and does the job. This is the front door looking out towards the street. So you understand why I have to keep her safe. Great product. It arrived on time and well-packaged. Thanks.

I realize a lot of these reviews say that the gate is flimsy and doesn’t stay in place, but it does!!!Works pretty well, keeps baby out of the kitchen! The instructions are printed on the back of the box.It does take a few minutes to figure out the gate, but once you have it, you have it!I like this gate much more than our pervious plastic one.And for the price, it’s a great deal!
