Great toy and even cute to store on the shelf
I was a nanny, and this was a very popular toy in the house, so I even had to buy it for my babies. I have a 5yo and a 1yo. They both love playing with it and no matter how old they get, the shapes, and colors are good for them! This is a toy I will always recommend. It’s fun seeing your little ones learn to fit the shapes in the spaces and colors over time.

    Educational joy in wooden play
This wooden toy is a delightful blend of entertainment and education for young children. Crafted with the quality that is synonymous with the Melissa & Doug brand, this wooden toy boasts durability and timeless appeal. The vividly colored shapes and corresponding slots engage children in a captivating sorting activity, promoting cognitive development. The inclusion of wheels adds an interactive dimension, transforming the sorter into a rolling toy, encouraging movement and coordination.Parents appreciate the sturdiness of the wooden construction, ensuring longevity even in the hands of active toddlers. This toy not only fosters shape recognition and sorting skills but also provides a hands-on, sensory experience that enhances a child’s overall developmental journey.

Such a fun toy to add to your rotation
I got this years back for my daughter and we’ve had it ever since and it’s been a well loved toy in our house. So for Christmas I got it for my other two nieces and they also enjoy them.So many fun ways to play with them!Good quality, great toy

    Melissa & Doug shape sorter
The toy is well made and the shapes fit easily into the holes with no problem. There was no splintering of the wood and the paint was not chipped, it is really well made. The child I bought it for is about 18 months and this kept her entertained for over an hour the afternoon she got it. That is a 5 star review. 🤣

Not a good first shape sorter- many small pieces-. Better for 2-4 year olds. Came sealed but missing a piece.
This actually came sealed and new but missing a piece so I returned it. Also, it’s smaller than I’d expected which could be good or bad (good because it doesn’t take up much storage space but bad because it’s harder to maneuver for the child if they’re still working on basic motor skills). Either way, I don’t think it’s for a young baby at all. The age range states one year and up but I don’t know too many babies younger than probably 2 who would be able to enjoy this with the small pieces, so many different shapes and the fact that some of them- like the purple parallelogram- would have to possibly be turned around before fitting into the hole. Also, not sure what I think about the wood blocks getting chewed on…that would depend on what type of kid you’re getting it for. If you’ve got a chewer then I’d stick with plastic probably just because I wouldn’t expect them to be able to EAT plastic (although they could make little dents and teeth marks on it), but with the paint they could chip it off and actually get little bits of it inside themselves. Basically, if you know what kind of kid you’re giving it to then you can decide for yourself but if it’s for a group or a kid you’re not that familiar with then I don’t know if I’d get this for them. I’m personally going to wait until my baby is a bit older and then reorder it when I see that they’ve mastered the more basic/larger size shape sorters but this is not a great starter one. I do like that the blocks are the same color as the panel they’re supposed to go in. That should help kids decipher which place to put them and reinforce color recognition/matching…In general, I like it. But probably not for a one year old and I do wish it were a little bit bigger. Not much though!

    Wooden High quality Toy
This toy is made of high quality wood (no splinters) and will provide not only entertainment but also an educational experience for any young child. I own other Melissa and Doug Brand toys, and this toy is consistent with the durability I’ve come to known. The colored shapes and corresponding holes provide endless engagement while also engaging the child in a learning experience. The rolling mechanism provides a fun activity for younger children which will promote movement by the child. This is a great toy for a child’s overall development.

    Cute learning toy
The cutest, sturdiest toy. My son got it for Christmas and wasn’t to sure about it at first, but once we started to play with it, with him, he’s enjoyed it so much! It has helped with color and shape recognition. Worth the money!

Great toy for multiple ages full of learning and fun!
This is a great toy, with potential for so many different learning opportunities. Nice compact roller shape that nicely holds all the pieces. Safe for all ages, as the pieces are not too small to put in mouth. Simple clean design for easy cleaning. This would make a great gift!

Well made, has nice colours and is pleasant to the touch. Had a lot of use out of this toy, would highly recommend it for motor skills, hand-eye coordination, learning shapes and colours and just for having fun together with your little one.

Great quality, and my baby loves it! Right now she loves rolling the cylinder, and playing with the blocks. But as a grow-with-baby toy, she’ll slowly start learning the colours and shapes. Love it!

This was a great gift for my friend’s son. Sturdy and not plastic!

  12. Kristen Guy

Gonna wait till baby knows not to mouth everything just because of the paint that’s on the shapes. Looking forward to them learning their shapes and figuring out the puzzle.
