I’m here as a mid 30s woman to give an HONEST review I’m getting nothing out of this but I felt I had to defend it based off a lot of bad reviews. I’m not sure why there are so many terrible reviews on the quality and the assembly because I literally second guessed buying this once I read the reviews and was even a little discouraged. This dresser took me by myself 2hours to put together with ease. The directions were direct and on point. Zero issues. It’s sturdy and beautiful. I highly recommend.

Ended up in the dump
I’m sad to be writing this review, because I just wrote one for a different Storkcraft dresser that turned out great. This one, however, was a complete disaster.The big difference between these was that for the other one, I took everything out of the box but didn’t assemble it right away. By the time I was ready to assemble, I couldn’t find the written instructions. So, I had to Google them and found instructions on YouTube. They were clear and I assembled the dresser easily.With this one, I used the written instructions, and they were horrible. To be clear, there are no words, just pictures. Some of the pieces in the pictures are backward from what they’re supposed to be (i.e., the “screw hole” pictured should be on the other side). (They’re not really screws, but I don’t know what they’re called so I’m just using that word.) Also, they kept flipping the pieces upside down and/or backward from one step to the next. I had to examine each picture at each step extremely carefully to see which direction it was facing — sometimes the only clue would be a small cutout, or a screw hole that was showing in the last picture but wasn’t showing in the current one, meaning the unit had been turned around.Overall, it was extremely confusing. By the time I got the unit assembled and the drawers put together, the drawers wouldn’t go in. Obviously I had done something wrong during the assembly. So, I tried to take it apart to try again, and the entire thing just broke. The little metal pieces and dowels ripped apart the flimsy particle board before I could even get the pieces apart. Of course, I knew these pieces were particle board due to the price, but it just wasn’t strong enough to hold up when being taken apart.So, if you do decide to buy this piece (or any other by Storkcraft based on my experience), I highly recommend skipping the written instructions altogether and going straight to YouTube. Frankly, even those are a bit annoying (I really don’t need to be shown how to turn a screwdriver EVERY SINGLE TIME a screw needs to be used), but at least they are clear and the first dresser went together no problem.Unfortunately, this one ended up a mess and went straight to the dump. Lesson learned.

Almost Perfect
I will warn everyone that the reason that this item is cheaper than other brands is because you have to put every single piece together, and it takes hours. But, I knew that going into this. I bought this dresser and the three drawer dresser, and I feel like this one isn’t as sturdy. And by that I mean, when I was putting the last drawer together, the wood split with very little force. I did everything how the instructions tell you to. But I was able to kinda fix it and it’s in the back so you can’t even see it. These are made of a pressed board material, and you have to be careful while putting it together. Now my biggest problem is that one of the drawer faces has a big ole scratch on it, I’m not 100% if it came like that as I was just placing the pieces along the wall as I was pulling them out to make everything easy to find. But I was gentle when moving the pieces and used a blanket, theres no reason it should have a scratch already. My second issue comes with the part that is the drawer bottoms, in a few spots the design is faded and looks like someone took an eraser to it. Obviously it’s just a production error, but again easily hidden. I really do like these, they match the crib someone gave me almost perfectly. But again these are a lot of work to put together you have to have patience. I built these alone, although it would have probably gone a little faster if I had help. I just couldn’t wait for him to get off of work, I was too excited.

Best Packaged Product
People need to understand that you’re not going to get solid wood craftsmanship for the same cost as this type of furniture. These are designed for economical affordability and functionality. That being said, this is the 4th dresser I’ve had to buy and this one has been by far, the best dresser I’ve received. I’m waiting on two returns from other manufacturers as they arrived damaged. Storkcraft has actually taken the time to properly pack this product. There was foam in between each and every layer. I must also mention that this is the ONLY dresser I’ve seen that has an anti-tipping mechanism where only one drawer can be opened at a time. The thought that was put into this has surpassed my expectations and is quite impressive. I highly recommend this brand to anyone. Thank you for such a quality product.

Not just for nurseries.
This turned out to be a really beautiful dresser. Some helpful hints that would have saved us a lot of time assembling it:The silver disc screw-in part, about the size of a dime, must not be pushed too deep into the wood or the metal connector part does not line up through the side hole. Point the arrow toward the hole. This assembly took my teenage son and I four 1/2 hours total with an average amount of swearing. Looks beautiful. This is not for a nursery (or for the faint of heart.) I changed out the knobs to rattan and added a linen runner to give it a more Boho coastal feel. No weird smell. No damage. All particle board which is what I would expect for $200. Nice neutral light gray color. You will need a flathead and a Phillips head screwdriver. Do not use a drill.

Great Dresser. The drawers don’t open as widely as I’d hoped and they are noisier than I expected as well. But I am very happy for the price. It is a heavy solid dresser.

One packaged piece is damaged. There’s a crack that runs right through it. It’s the main top piece. Every other piece is fine. Seems quality inspection is not up to par.
